What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #595

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and you know what time it is. Time to snoop. For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Confession, my desk photo was taken last night because I knew I wouldn’t have time to process the photos etc. this morning. I have to take my boys to their first dentist appointment since the pandemic broke out. I am a bit anxious. Our jobs as parents are to keep our children safe and I have to put them in harms way, to ensure their teeth are healthy. So it sort of goes against my instinct. I am very careful with exposing my boys to any unnecessary exposure so I am a bit of a bundle of nerves this morning. So send positive energy that all three of us come out Covid-free.

I started a coloring book page a few days ago for Halloween. It’s a color-along and I am loving the color combos for the sky. I hope to finish it before Halloween. I will share it when I do. No trick or treating for us. I hope trick or treaters come to our door, it will make me sad. I will keep our lights off to discourage visits. It’s very sad for the kids.

Last Saturday’s crop was fun as usual and I played around with a new die to create the birthday cards above.

My father-in-law’s birthday was this past week so I also made him a birthday card with a new birthday stamp, patterned paper and my Copics.

Talk about scary, on the way to visit my in-laws this weekend, the raised highway I ride has been having construction work performed on it for months and on this day they were breaking down the other side of the highway. So as we slowly passed we could feel the whole road shake. I took the picture and then closed my eyes (no judgement ladies) while my husband drove us past.

I have been missing my coloring books so I am also started another page last week. It’s good practice coloring water.

Let’s talk about Covid binge shopping. I’m just sayin’ that this pile of delight arrived a few days ago and I can’t stop smiling. I will share them with you as I use them. Covid has been brutal to my bank account.

Stress from the upcoming election has made me sink deeper into my books. I plan on doing some today after all the dental appointment errands. This is one of my many book nooks in my house. This one makes me happy because I enjoy looking at one of my bookcases (Yes, I said one of my bookcases. I have several. That’s what bookworms do!!)

I am a big fan of sunrise and sunsets and this one my son took for me with his camera on Saturday evening. It was this spectacular. I can’t explain how happy it makes me to look at sunsets. I hope it brings a smile to your faces. I am off now but will stop by later today and for the rest of the week. (I am slow at making my rounds lately).

  1. Hope the trip to the dentist went ok, ours has taken so many precautions that we felt quite safe. But I do feel nervous going to crowded shops so now I don’t bother! Lovely to see your bookshelves, I have so many books too and always have a book or two on the go. Your colouring continues to be lovely, how does a challenge work then? Do you only have to do part of the image each week?
Hope you’re keeping safe and well,
    Hugs LLJ 11 xxx

  2. That card is a winner! And yes, no judgement at all, I would have probably skipped taking the photo! I hate anything that startles me on the rode. Even not driving I am known to gasp and unsettle whoever IS driving. LOL! Beat I just close my eyes and sleep. Sunset is gorgeous too, and yeah, I am with you on the whole shopping thing. Daughter wanted to spend some time on Wish, shopping for her birthday goodies, and, well, we all had to join in! Got a meatball shaper, a few stencils, a couple of dies, a blade for the meat grinder, notebooks, and more. Boredom takes a toll…

    Happy WOYWW!

  3. Hope the visit to the dentist went off without any problems Belinda. Love the latest colouring pages and the background to that birthday card is spectacular. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

  4. Hi Belinda. Let me tell you a secret… I have 5 bookcases! Plus a load of wooden boxes turned on their sides to make more book spaces. I dread to think what would happen if I put the house on the market again. The whole idea would be to downsize… but how on earth do I decide between the books???
Well done on all the colouring – no hallowe’en here in Wales – it has been made illegal to go round to houses because of infection spread. I confess to being quite happy it is not going to be celebrated.
Trust the visit to the dentist went ok. I know what you mean about putting yourself in harm’s way. I have actually cancelled my flu jab this year. I reckoned I stood more risk of getting it by going to the surgery for it, than by staying here in the house!
A glorious sunset photo. Well done to your son for capturing that.
    Take care. God bless.

  5. Smashing cards Belinda, especially your father in laws. I find mens cards quite tricky if they don’t drink or play golf or football.

Hopefully you all got home safely from the dentists. It isn’t very nice out there is it?

Thankfully we’re not allowed to trick or treat this year either so we’ll have a quiet time this week. Hopefully Remembrance Sunday will be able to go ahead under careful precautions.

Take care, with love and hugs from Sue #24 xx

  6. hope the visit to the dentist was ok all round. Shame the boys are going to miss halloween, but hopefully next year they will be able to enjoy it. better to be safe. Enjoy your books and colouring. Helen #1

  7. I am sure your dentist visit would go well. If they are anything like the one we go to they are being very careful. The colouring book looks nice and the birthday card too. Have a happy and creative woyww, Angela x18x

    Howdy Belinda,

I’m a colorer, too. Been coloring since grammar school where I won a coloring contest – 1st contest I ever one. Like you, I’m also a book worm with a bookshelf or 2-3 in every room. We have SOOOOOOOO many more books to read. In my Bullet Journal I listed all the books that I can remember reading – so far 145. Which seems like nothing compared to how many COULD be read in a lifetime – and I’m a speed reader!

Just wear your masks, observe 6’+ distances and all will be fine.
THanks for sharing and Happy Halloween! Peace, LuLu

  9. Love the birthday card, great colours and the sunset photo is gorgeous.
    Happy WOYWW #BJ

  11. Well I admit I don’t see many sunrises, I do love sunsets. My husband has been know to chase a sunset so I can get a good photograph. I also admit Covid or no COVID, I have been spending on craft. I keep getting an offer I can’t possibly refuse! Have a great week Angela #26

  12. love your cards, Sorry that Halloween won’t be as much fun this year. Hope the trip to the dentist went well, there are still no appointments here, my daughter is waiting to have a wisdom tooth removed. Have a great week. Soojay#26
