What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #514

Hello my creative friends! It’s been a little while since I posted my desk and snooped around yours. Hopefully I can get two in this month. Every other week seems to work better for me. Before I babble, let me explain for the newbies. For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

What a clean desk you might ask. Well that is only because I went to my annual girlfriend creative weekend and took a whole bunch of stuff with me to play. It is usually between 10 – 15 of us that attend a weekend in a beautiful Inn up north. I stayed and played for 4 days! If you want to see some sights from my craft escape check it our here. So that is why my desk is exceptionally tidy.

The floral binder is my new garden journal. I couldn’t resist the beautiful color and the flowers oo la la!!  It’s smaller than I usually use but I will give it a try and see how it works. It being smaller might help me update it more regularly since it would be bulky and heavy to lug around. Front and center is my case with my Prismacolor colored pencils. To the right of it is my brand spankin’ new colored pencil sharpener. I saw a colorist on YouTube talk about it this past weekend and had to have it. I have two small sharpeners that I use but this one gets the sharpest point and it’s said prevents some of the breaking that occurs on occasion while sharpening the pencils. My hands also get tired using my other manual sharpeners. This one you only need to turn the handle 3-4 turns to get an amazing point. It has a self grip for the pencil so it’s easy to use on my desktop or I can also attach it to my desk with the supplies included. So I am going through my case and sharpening all of my pencils in preparation for my next coloring session. This could not happen with my old sharpeners because my hands would be killing me. So I am happy with this purchase.

Look how sharp the pencil is after I sharpen it. So excited. Well that is all I have today. But I will spend the next few days checking out what you ladies have been up to since I last visited!

Make it a crafty day!!

Belinda

  1. Hi Belinda, aren’t we crazy, swooning over a pencil sharpener! Lol. I was the same with my K’GAAL. Love being able to get such a sharp point. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #6 X

  2. Hi Belinda. I’ve been for a nosey and your gang. There is nothing better than crafting with friend, love it! That is a great pencil sharpener. It’s pretty much like the one I used when I was teaching but I had to bar the children from using it as they loved it so much that their pencils seemed to shrink rapidly. Happy creative woyww, Angela x16x

  3. Hi Belinda. sounds like you had a great time away – good for you! I like the look of the pencil sharpener. Having just treated myself to some polychromos pencils I have been thinking a really good sharpener will be essential…
    Take care. God bless.

  9. What a great get together Belinda. Four days of crafting with like minded friends. Maybe for the 15th anniversary crop we could persuade Julia and Jan to do the same here. Great pencil sharpener! Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

  11. Love all your gorgeous coloured pencils in their beautiful case, and that pencil sharpener certainly is a Rolls-Royce of pencil sharpeners! Great stuff. Thank you for visiting my new blog and for your encouraging remarks! I updated my blog with news of my appointment today. So glad you like my new bootie slippers and embellishments. It’s quite a fun project!

  12. They always look amazing when neat and sharp I never want to use mine when sharpened. It’s a real investment to have a good sharpener a great companion for our pencils. Sounds like you’ve had a great time crafting with friends.

  13. Happy Belated WOYWW (and I love the font/colour that we type our comments in). I went over to your post about your 10th Weekend Away, and that looked amazing. What a beautiful place to stay, the food and you are all so talented. I now have pencil sharpener envy! I rarely use my pencils now, but they definitely need some attention. Like you, using a normal pencil sharpener is quite painful for me. It would be great to meet up. Perhaps we can all come over to the US one day?! Ali x #22

  14. Hi Belinda, saw your comment about the red drawers on my desk. They are from an office supplies and are A4 in length and width so quite big. I tend to keep poly stamps in there as I like to keep the ones I use regularly easily available when I need them. There’s also special types of papers like shrink plastic and parchment and some bits and pieces of stuff like embellishments and tags. I’ll try and remember and open the drawers for you to see next week. Sending hugs, Angela xXx

Hi Belinda, I’ve Prismas too but I sharpen my pencils with a very sharp knife as my dad taught me when young it’s better to sharpen with the grain of the wood rather than cut against it like a sharpener does. Other pencils I use a sharpener but good pencils never. Old habits die hard. It’s actually not hard on hands to do that just time comnsuming.
Happy belated WOYWW, Shaz in Oz,x #15
