What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #591

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and you know what time it is. Time to snoop. For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

I am glad I took my picture of my desk yesterday because we have had a whirlwind of weather this morning. The winds are so high some of the stuff on my deck were rearranged and the rain was pretty heavy. So the natural light in my craft room right now isn’t the best. I am so grateful for the rain despite the winds. We desperately need rain.

On my desk you can see my work and book journal, my current read, Frederick Douglas, my headphones my husband gave me. They are so high tech and the sound is quite divine. I usually listen to music on my Bose speaker while I work but now that my boys are home doing school virtually, I try not to make too much noise. So the headphones are great. You can also see some fall themed flags I will be printing on sticker paper for my bullet journals.

I thought I would introduce you to my new desk mate. Her name is Thea. I hope she will thrive here. I have had a lovely conversation with her today (yup, I talk to my plants). She told me to stop slacking. She is a bit of a bossy one.

I finally went out in the garden last Saturday to clean up a bit and plant my fall mums. My husband even helped a little. He knows the garden is my happy space so when I asked him to join me he was a little surprised.

This is the planter he built for me a few years back and I love it because I can change it for the seasons. I will take another photo once the flowers bloom.

Happy mail is the best during the pandemic. My sister sent me this kitchen towel and candle. The funny thing was that I had sent her a surprised package earlier that day.

New book I just received. It’ an anthology of female authors from the African Diaspora. It is a chunkster so I think I might save it for the new year and take my time with it. But isn’t the cover so beautiful? I just had to take a picture.

Saturday’s craft zoom session was fun as usual. I ended up just playing with new products rather than working on a project. Above is a few dies I recently purchased. I see some come cool projects with these beauties.

Above is a new 3D embossing folder I used some distress oxide on them for color but they look so classy plain white. I can just slap a sentiment on them and they would be complete.

I did complete one card. I used distress oxide with a new stencil. I wanted to create and ombre effect.

Well enough about me. I need to get to some good snooping.

I’m running late today. I decided to wash and blow dry my hair this morning and so my whole schedule has been pushed back. But here I am. On my desk today you see lots of fun stuff. I had been on the fence about buying these new pen storage cases (black, white and pink). I loved how the horizontal one has three compartments inside so I can sort my pens, brush tips and pencils. The vertical one is so cool. The black and white patterned section on the top slides up with a zipper on top for portability and then down to make it more like a cup to see all the contents. It’s quite genius. So I caved and ordered it. I just got them last night so I will have to fill them.

This morning I am working in my planner. I usually prepare it on Monday and I fill in tasks in the colored stickers. It really helps me keep track of my plans for each day.

The new gaming chair and desk have arrived and are set up in my son’s room. He hasn’t finalized what he wants for a new computer so that should be coming soon. Update on my closet clear out – I am half way through it and it feels so good to purge even if it’s chaos in between.

Some snacks and meals from the last few days. I am almost done with this detox. It is suppose to end on Thursday but I am thinking I will keep going through the end of the month. I am so surprised I am not missing meat like I thought I would. I am also afraid to start back on sweets since they are my biggest hurdle. So I will plan out my meals and find some new recipes to mix in to keep it fresh. I feel so much better and it has only been 9 days. I can only imagine how great I will feel if I stick to eating like this. Especially since the fall and winter are cozy foods and excess snacking.

A recent haul. I found these beauties on sale and the stamp set on top was a bundle with the matching dies. So I can make some fall cards with it and the die in the back is a winter scene so I can’t wait to try it.

One of my yummy breakfast from this detox and I broke out my fall mug for the first day of fall yesterday. I love fall. It’s so pretty and the air smells great.

My crazy Dahlia’s bloomed so late. I feel bad because I will have to dig them up soon.

Another craft haul. I saw these beauties and could not pass them up. Look in the ephemera pack and you can see little slippers sticking out. These make me so happy. I can’t wait ot use them.

One last garden picture! Look at the solar fountain in my yard go while all of my Autumn Joy Sedum are blooming like crazy making my bees so happy.

Happy fall and keep crafting!

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #589

I am running late! I have so many things going on simultaneously that my head is going to just pop off. I started a 10-day detox yesterday with my friend and I’ll share some photos later in this post. I am still working out the morning kinks of our school routine with the boys in the morning, I am working to fill the holes (and I have many) in my inventory for my shop. More about that later. I am also buddy reading a rather large book with a friend and have fallen off schedule. So getting to my desk this morning any earlier was not happening.

On my desk you can see a little of one of the cards I worked on at last weeks’ Zoom Craft session. You can see my swatches for some of my Nuvos. It’s really a good idea to create one so that when you have a project, you can hold it over the paper and see if the color will work or not. I need to do another one because my collection has grown. You can also see two of my Copics that need refills. Nail polish, yup that’s two bottles of nail polish (A girls got to have some luxuries at her desk!).

Pens are an obsession.

Above is the latest to add to my collection. These pens are made by U Brands and I get them at Target. I wait for new collections to come out and run out and buy them. The write like butter in my journals and the retractable ones have excellent weight to them like higher quality pens. I love using the felt tip one’s in my journals too. So naturally I had to run out and get the latest colors yesterday!!

Craft haul

Last week, I did some social distance craft shopping with my friend, Joan. We went to Michael’s and I found these amazing journals, notebook, and watercolor markers on deep sales. So they instantly went into my basket.

I have never used Tombow’s watercolor markers and they came with a bonus color marker. It was a deal I could not pass on. I will try to test them out later this week.

Detox day 1

So my friend, Ashley and I have been doing a 21-day cleanse every year for several years now. I decided to shake things up when I came across this 10-day cleanse that you do 4 times a year at the beginning of each season. Above is a glimpse of yesterdays foods.

Lunch on day 1

Lunch was pretty yummy. I will do a little tweaks for the next time I have to eat it. So far not bad. Well, actually this mornings breakfast was quite bland and I sat there eating it like a kid eating mashed potatoes (one that doesn’t like them of course). What we do for good health!! haha.

multi-tasking

Football season began in the US on Sunday and I was so excited. I am convinced that they will not make it through a complete season due to the pandemic so I am savouring every game. On Sunday, while I watched, I made card bases and stamped them with my branding. It’s wonderful when things like that happen. Now I have more card bases ready to go.

Envelopes’ Rainbow

I had to stock up on more envelopes for my cards. I can’t tell you how much joy it gives me everytime I go shopping for more envelopes.

Envelopes pile.

They just make me happy. I used to use only white envelopes but now I love colored envelopes. They look so great with the cards and they are fun to receive in the mail.

yummy yarn

I saw this yarn when I was shopping with Joan and they really make me want to pick up knitting again. I love these colors and they are so soft. I had to use a lot of control not to buy any.

Roses again

I can’t get enough of my roses this year. This photo does not capture the beauty completely but I thought I would share anyway. I paired them with some pink guara. Next year, I will add a complimentary colored flower to really wow. Ok I am off. I hope you all are well and look forward to some snooping.

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #588

First, I have to apologize because for the first time, I did not visit anyone’s desk last week accept Julia’s and I didn’t even have time to leave our fearless leader a comment. As you know, I have been trying to increase my inventory so that I can reopen my shop. I have been working on that and then my husband and I decided to turn our guest bedroom into a room for my oldest who turns 17 this month. Great idea you say? Well yes, it is, however our guest room that hasn’t been used since this pandemic started has become, shall I say a catchall room. I still have to clear out the closet but the room is finally free of my crap. Much of it we took in a few trips to our local thrift store and the remainder is in my living room waiting out its fate. I am surprised I did not get a call from the TV show Hoarders!!! It’s that bad. So when we finish it I will be sure to share some photos. So I have not been free to visit you all this past week.

My desk is a hot mess this week because I am not a neat crafter. I would love to be but when ideas are brewing, I tend to jump around from project to project and then my desk gets cluttered.

Fortunately, I was able to attend my weekly craft Zoom session on Saturday and start working on some fall card designs. We started at 1 pm and I got off at nearly 10 pm! It’s really great.

Above are two pre-ordered new-release books I have been waiting for a few to arrive. I read Yaa Gyasi’s debut, “Homegoing” last year and looked forward to her next book. The other book is an author that has a big backlist that I haven’t read but this is her first try at the mystery genre. So it will be my introduction to her writing and then I will work back.

The last picture I will leave you with is two cards completed and below is a sheet I am testing out color combos to create card variations. Other than that I am well and hoping to redeem myself with desk visits this week.

Happy crafting my friends and stay well.

Belinda
